So You Want to Submit to the Do
you have a story, poem, comic, or piece of art that you want the world
to see? Well, maybe not the world per se, but a fun group of people
nonetheless? Then you've come to the right place!Naughty Hamster? Naughty Hamster Monthly is always looking for material to fill our pages with subversive goodness! We accept stories, poems, original artwork, political cartoons, comics (one-shot or monthly installments) and even word puzzles and games. Basic Guidelines Stories/Short Fiction can be any genre...our only requirement is that it's good stuff! If your story is character-driven, make me fall in love with the characters! If your story is plot driven, make sure I don't want to put it down til I know what happens! We prefer 2500 words or less, but if yours is longer send it anyway! Two part or serial stories are also welcome. Sorry, we can't accept fan fiction. Artwork has to be original, black and white (we can't print color) and in .jpg, .gif, or .bmp format. All styles are welcomed, but no fair copying someone else's character! If we suspect you have changed someone else's character just enough to pretend it's your own creation...sorry! DELETED! Poetry can be any format. Story poems are welcomed as are haiku, sestina, sonnet, dirty limerick...whatever! Any subject is fine, as well. If you've got an epic poem about Vikings on the high sea, send it on! Flowing love poem? We take all kinds. Comics are gladly accepted, especially if they're about real-life adventures. They can be funny or poignant, touching or bizarre, but they must have some sort of resolution unless you're planning on making this a monthly thing. If you are, please contact us and we'll save you a space. The art doesn't have to be great, but the story does! Political Cartoons are great, keeping in mind that your editors lean more to the left than the Tower of Pisa. We do not accept cartoons that make fun of or disparage any ethnic group or religion! Making fun of Republicans and Conservatives is fine. And if you have a Conservative cartoon, send it on in. If it's funny enough, I'll print it! Puzzles and Games can be anything from logic puzzles to crossword puzzles, with answers printed in the next month's issue. Keep in mind that very few Mensa members read this magazine, so try to keep it New York Times difficulty or lower, okay? Compensation A dirty word if one was ever heard. Just kidding. Since we're just starting up here, unfortunately our compensation is a little on the low end. Nevertheless, Naughty Hamster Monthly offers $5.00 per story/artwork contribution/puzzle plus 2 contributors' copies and the honor of seeing your name in print. Plus you can put it on your resume.
